It is the first full-length self-portrait by the artist. In the foreground, the young woman, elegantly although soberly dressed in black, appears to us in a dignified and proud posture; the expression on his face, his direct look have something virginal. The vestal is accompanied by a gorilla and a tiger which, just behind it, seem ready to pounce. Unless she is the one who protects these two representatives of endangered species?
The "green" mountain which rises in the distance, fertile and not mineral, dominates the picture and charges it with its telluric power.
